Today we took part in Candlemas at St Margaret’s Church.
Candlemas, also known as the Feast of the Presentation of Jesus Christ and the Feast of the Purification of the Blessed Virgin Mary, is a Christian Holy Day commemorating the presentation of Jesus at the Temple. It is based upon the account of the presentation of Jesus in Luke 2:22–40.
We sang firm favourites ‘Give me Oil in my Lamp’ and ‘Shine Jesus Shine’. We heard readings from Luke Chapter 2, from pupils in Year 6.
We shared reflections and prayers, written by Year 5.
A representative from each class was given a candle to bring back to school.
