Today saw the conclusion of our 2 week Classic Poetry Recitals project, in which the pupils in each year group studied and recited a famous poem from highly-regarded classic poets. It was wonderful to see the level of enthusiasm and engagement from the children across the fortnight, which culminated in recital assemblies this week. A huge well done to everyone – the recitals were wonderful, and we were all so impressed by the performances. A big thank you too to all the parents who came along to the assemblies – they were a great audience!

Competition Winners 2023
We are delighted to announce the winners for this year’s Classic Poetry recital competition. 53 pupils entered from years 2 – 6, and the judges, Mr Aitken, governor; Miss Shaw, TA; and Miss Pape, Deputy Headteacher, found it very difficult to select this year’s overall winners. Well done to everyone who took part – you were all so impressive.
However, for his passionate performance of ‘Remember’ by Christina Rossetti, this year’s KS2 winner is Zaim, Y6, and for her delightful recital of ‘Answer to a Child’s Question’ by Samuel Taylor Coleridge is KS1 winner, Olwen, Y2. A huge congratulations also to our 2nd place winners, and to everyone who received an Honourable Mention.
