In Year 4 this week, we decided to create our own digestive system outside of our bodies. We grabbed some bananas and biscuits and set about cutting them up like our teeth do in our mouths. We added some water to act as saliva and then it was time to get the mushy mess of food into our stomachs (sandwich bags). Once into our stomachs, we poured in some stomach acid (orange juice) and squeeze it all together. Now we had a real mess, so we poured it into the small intestines (tights) then dunked it into some blood (blackcurrant squash) to allow the food to absorb into our bodies. Finally, the digested food headed out of the large intestines to be excreted. We had a great time; however, it was a little bit gross!
