A Welcome from the Headteacher
Thank you for visiting! I would like to extend a very warm welcome to Phil & Jim Primary School (SS Philip and James’ Church of England Primary School). We are a happy and inclusive church school, located in the centre of historic Oxford. We back on to beautiful Port Meadow, Burgess Field Nature Park and the Trap Grounds: settings that offer endless opportunities for innovative learning.
Our children develop within a nurturing and caring environment to become independent, free-thinking learners who have a secure moral and spiritual grounding. We are ambitious and want every staff member and child to achieve their full potential.
We provide a stimulating academic environment, and design our curriculum to engage and excite our pupils, so that they have an independent desire to learn. We are very lucky to have a dedicated team of Subject Leaders that craft the strategic vision in each area of the curriculum and look for opportunities to engage students in those areas in new ways.
Our high academic standards have most recently been demonstrated by our excellent Key Stage 2 results that evidence how well equipped our children are for transitioning to secondary school.
We aim to serve our wider community including the varied needs of our parents. We provide a range of services to support our busy parents. We run a Breakfast Club, After School Care and Holiday Club.
We are fortunate to have an ambitious Parent Teacher Association (PTA), who organise a range of activities, including our famous Summer Fete!
Along with the wonderful staff who work at Phil & Jim, I would be delighted to welcome you to visit our school so you can find out more about us. I’d be delighted to arrange a time for you to visit or answer any questions you might have (headpa@ss-philip-and-james.oxon.sch.uk ).
