Today was Year 1’s last outdoor learning session of this term. Children toasted marshmallows over a fire that our Outdoor Learning instructor Anastacia had built and ate them in a shelter to stay out of the rain. Year 1 children were very careful and talked about staying safe around open flames.
It has been a joy to watch children explore the outdoor environment of the school this half term and they have shown and developed skills of resilience and teamwork by particiating in a range of activities including:-
- building habitats for minibeasts in the Year 1 courtyard
- constructing shelters using their knot-tying skills
- playing teamwork games
We can’t wait to see what wonderful opportunities for Outdoor Learning the children embrace next half term.
