On Thursday, Year 5 were fortunate enough to experience a number of computing workshops delivered by a team of expert computer programmers from Telefonica. The children were divided into groups and given experiences in coding and augmented reality. Noah said “It was interesting writing code and finding the right thing to change in it,” whilst Alice added “It was very fun because I found out that Alexa can only answer certain questions. It can’t predict the future but it can calculate things and find out information like what the weather is going to be by gathering information from the internet.” We are all extremely grateful to the staff from Telefonica, many of whom travelled great distances to be with us, for giving up their time to share their knowledge and expertise. Hopefully we may see children from Phil and Jim going into the industry and becoming the computing experts of tomorrow. Perhaps this experience could be a part of that journey….
