Year 3 Reading at Home

Year 3 children should have come home with a banded reading book that we encourage them to read at home with you. It is important that they are both decoding the text and also answering questions about it in order to develop their comprehension skills.
We will be swapping the books on Tuesdays and Fridays and the children will be able to choose their books. If they are not ready to swap their book on these days, they are free to hold on to it for longer. We recommend that children read each book at least twice.
Please let us know how they get on by signing the reading journals (collected on Fridays, although the children should have these in school every day for when we read with them).
