Last Friday, nine children from Years 5 and 6 travelled to Oxford City FC to take part in a football tournament alongside a number of other schools from Oxfordshire. At the group stage, Phil & Jim won two matches and drew two matches which meant we topped the group and advanced into the quarter finals. In the quarter finals, we played a tight game against Tetsworth which resulted in a 0-0 draw. We won the penalty shoot-out 2-1 and progressed to the semi-finals where we played Chalgrove. The game drew 0-0 and headed to penalties. Unfortunately, despite playing well, we lost 3-1.
Overall, it was a fantastic performance from our newly formed team and they finished 3rd overall. Helena from Year 5 said, ‘The tournament was very good, I enjoyed it because lots of my friends were there and we worked well as a team.’
