6J Pitt Rivers trip Feb 2026
As part of our history topic on the Maya Civilisation, we visited the Pitt Rivers Museum in Oxford. Whilst we were there, the children participated in a workshop where they used a range of objects to piece together what life was life for the Maya people. We also spent time exploring the museum. Here is what one student wrote about the trip:
Today at the Pitt Rivers Museum, we got shown and told about many Mayan artefacts: scupltures of their gods, different toys and pots. Once we got there, we played a game where we had to guess what the different artefacts were and it was very hard. My favourite one was the jade earring. It was very pretty and a very nice shade of green. The second activity that we did was that we got shown around Pitt Rivers and we saw a lot of fun and cool artefacts.
