Friday 27 March 2026 Y4 performance of Oliver! Year 4 put on a spectacular performance of Oliver! offering two performances to parents in addition to those enjoyed by the school. Staff and children worked so hard rehearsing and perfecting their lines, acting and singing and the effort was well worth every minute. Congratulations to all involved.

Thursday 26 March 2026 Primary Team Maths Challenge Congratulations to Ridley, Joseph N, Melody, Lina, Henry, Raymond, Martha and Dionne from Year 5 who represented Phil and Jim at the Primary Maths Competition at d' Overbroeck's Senior School. The children showcased their maths skills in five challenging rounds, competing against local schools. Impressively, our two teams of pupils achieved first and third place! Monday 23 March 2026 Just Sing at the Schwarzman Centre We were very excited to have been invited to perform in a concert at the newly opened Schwarzman Centre and are grateful to the Humanities Division at Oxford University for inviting us to use their concert hall at the Centre. Children from Phil & Jim, St Barnabas and St Aloysius primary schools came together to share some of their own songs, as well as performing three other songs together as a massed choir.

Monday 23 March 2026 Y5 Mary Arden's Farm 26 This term we have been learning all about the Tudors in History. As part of this topic, we visited Mary Arden's Farm in Stratford-upon-Avon, where the children took part in a Tudors Alive workshop. During the visit, we explored what life was like for children in Tudor Britain by participating in traditional Tudor activities, touring a Tudor house, and exploring a working farm.

Friday 20 March 2026 Year 3 Museum of Oxford trip As part of our focus on settlements and local geography in Term 4, we arranged a trip to the Museum of Oxford. While we were there,we were able to have a look around the museum and handle some of the exhibits.

Wednesday 11 February 2026 6J Pitt Rivers trip Feb 2026 As part of our history topic on the Maya Civilisation, we visited the Pitt Rivers Museum in Oxford. Whilst we were there, the children participated in a workshop where they used a range of objects to piece together what life was life for the Maya people. We also spent time exploring the museum. Friday 23 January 2026 Year 4 Hinduism Talk Thank you to students from Oxford University Hindu Society for coming into year 4 and telling them all about Hinduism and what worship looks like for them. It was a really interesting talk and the children had so many questions that were answered. It really helped us to have a better understanding of Hindu beliefs.

Friday 16 January 2026 PTA Breakfast The PTA organised breakfast in the school hall this morning providing a great opportunity for Phil & Jim families to socialise before the morning drop off.

Tuesday 13 January 2026 Young Voices choir It was a privilege to be able to take the choir to Young Voices this week and to see them all sing their hearts out and go crazy with their dance moves! Everyone seemed to have the best time and it felt so joyful to be able to sing as a humungous choir! The choir represented Phil and Jim so well. So many children have said how fun it was. Sammy in year 5 gave it 4.5 stars and said he'd go again. Robin in year 3 said it was the biggest and best experience he has ever had and Freddie in year 3 said he really liked the singing and dancing. All in a all we had a fantastic time! Friday 28 November 2025 Year 4 Vikings workshop This term, year 4 have been continuing there understanding of history by learning about the Vikings and how they fought for power with the Anglo-Saxons. They have made some fantastic Viking longboats, travelled around a map of the world to raid, trade and settle and today they took part in a workshop where they acted out some of the battles between the two sides. Year 4 were so interested and enthusiastic and showed off their knowledge to the workshop leader. They also handled some artefacts and made their own replica of hacksilver.

Friday 28 November 2025 Pantomime 2025 Today the children in Years Reception to Year 3 enjoyed a pantomime performance of Snow White. The children really enjoyed this energetic performance, especially the guest appearances of Mr Ansell and Miss Blackwell.
